Its Christmas! Literally my favourite time of the year, so it’s time to deck the halls and every year I underestimate just how long that actually takes.

But our decorations have been up for a few weeks now and I just love it! All those twinkly lights are part of what makes it feel Christmasy for me, even if it does take me a good 10 minutes to turn them all off every night, it’s totally worth it.

So here is a little tour of our house, Christmas style;

THE LIVING ROOM

Obviously the tree is the main feature in this space and with nearly 1500 lights on it, its hard to miss! But you can’t have too many lights in my opinion.

You also won’t see a handmade decoration from my girls anywhere. I get that a lot of people are into this but it’s just not my thing. I do sentimentality differently; we have decorations from some of the places we’ve visited, the girls each get a decoration every Christmas, and we have milestone ones like from our first Christmas in this house, all interspersed between other ornaments. And yes my wrapping paper matches my ornaments haha.

Every space that is available to me has been decorated and the living room is no exception. Under the TV I’ve added star lights to a garland, the girls sacks are stuffed with cushions, the shelves all have their nod to Christmas, and even the sofa gets some Christmas love in the shape of these cushions I picked up from H&M a couple of years ago.

The only exception to the ‘every surface must be decorated’ rule is the coffee and side table, which have been left empty due to the two little girls I share this house with. They play on and around these tables so much that it’s easier to leave them free of decorations.

THE HALL

As soon as you walk into our house you’re hit with Christmas. You can see our Christmas tree from the front door and the hall even has its own mini tree too.

The console has also had a total Christmas makeover; both ornament trees are new this year; the glass one is from TK Maxx and the front tree is from Bed, Bath and Table. The girls doors have their stockings hung on them and our little Santa is standing guard over the presents.

KITCHEN

I don’t have a lot of surfaces in this space and I had to be quite practical with what decorations I used and where. As there is nowhere in the dinning room to really have any decorations I needed to add a bit of impact to the kitchen and backdoor area. To do this I placed a garland around the frame of the door and added these Ikea circular lights to the shelves. My tea light trees fill the part of the glass door that doesn’t open, and my little snowy village is up high away from little hands.

BATHROOM

Yes even this room wasn’t immune to a bit of decorating. Our guests will be using this space so how could I not add some Christmas love in here too.

GIRL’S ROOMS

I like to put a few little Christmas touches in the girls room and its definitely an area I’d like to do more with (I see a pink Christmas tree in its future!). But I love how I can create a totally different vibe in here that is fun and colourful.

Every year the girls get a Christmas book each, and I swap out the book shelves and replace them with their Christmas ones. This year I’ve also add these wooden star garlands and this giant bauble I picked up a couple of years ago from Myer that I just adore.

My beautiful friend made the girls these handmade stockings when each of them was born that I’ve hung them on their wardrobe doors, and a couple of wooden trees in each girls room finishes off the decorations for them.

BACK GARDEN

There is no way I couldn’t add some Christmas magic to this space too, its where we’ll be hosting our guests on Christmas day!

Out here I added some star lights I found on Facebook Marketplace, popped some winter berries I got from Adairs into a vase for the coffee table and added candles to a tray for the table centrepiece. The glass tree on the tray was bought this year from Kmart, and I added battery operated lights for some night time sparkle.

FRONT GARDEN

One day it is my dream to go all out on the outside of my house, but for now these icicle lights and miniature reindeer and sleigh will have to do. I really wanted to add a giant wreath to fill the width of the front door, but getting decorations this year is proving harder that I imagined. Everyone seems to have gone Christmas crazy and any time I’ve gone Christmas decoration shopping the shelves are pretty bare, so sourcing this will have to wait until next year.

So that’s our house all decorated for Christmas, now we wait for the big day!! I hope you’re homes are all feeling festive in whatever way that means for you.

Thank you so much for all your support this year. Wishing you the merriest of Christmas from my family to yours.

Love Clare xx
