A couple of weeks ago we celebrated my youngests first birthday with the dreamiest of party themes – Dream Big Little One, which was completely inspired by the cake topper I actually found while planning my oldest daughters third birthday back in March.
You’ll have to forgive my icing skills they’re not at a Pinterest level 🙂 But I can confirm this cake was delicious and the cake topper I ordered from eBay topped it off so well. It may have taken 2 months to get here but it was the inspiration for the whole theme, and well worth the wait.
This theme called for stars, moons and clouds and I decided to keep the colour palette restrained too, using only gold, white and silver, with a tiny bit of rose gold thrown in.
The show stopper of the party (after the cake and topper) was easily this cloud and star centrepiece I created (I’m planning on sharing a blog later in the week on how you can create your own, so stay tuned for that).
These wooden wands were bought as a give away for all the kids that attended the party. They come as plain wood so we of course spray painted them and added silver and gold ribbons to stay on theme. The kids loved them, they looked great and also doubled up as party decor, so win win!
These ‘ONE’ letters were actually left over from Mia’s first birthday party, so we dusted them off and gave them a fresh coat of paint to match the theme. I then used some of the polyester ‘cloud’ filling to wrap around the letters so it looked like the ONE was drifting on a cloud.
I also had another ‘ONE’ set of letters that were sprayed painted gold and created the same cloud effect at the drinks station (just forgot to take a photo!).
For the back drop I used white paper decorations to imitate clouds. Would’ve loved to go all out and created more polyester clouds, but as I try to keep party wastage down to a minimum I went with paper decorations that I can reuse again and are a little kinder to the environment.
And this is us in a family photo, all together!! It’s a miracle 🙂
And below are all the sources and links in case you’re planning on creating your own dream/twinkle twinkle little star party, would love to see pics or know how you get on if you do.
Much love
Clare xx
