There is nothing like a deadline to get shit done, and listing your house for sale is definitely a deadline that spurs you on to finish all those half started and unfinished projects.
At the start of the year I shared our 2021 Project List, and although some things have remained a lot of things have been down graded, newly added or completely removed. So here is all the projects we’re tackling in order to list our house for sale.
INDIA’S BEDROOM
This one is pretty straight forward – repaint and style. The green wall in here was left over from when it was an office, so to clean it up and present it better it’ll be getting a fresh coat of white paint on the walls and ceiling, along with a few new styling touches.
EN-SUITE
Much like the main bathroom this room will be getting a bit of a facelift. The wall cupboard will go, the vanity and tap will be replaced and the whole room will be painted in a fresh coat of white paint. Plus the floor grout will be given the same upgrade as the bathroom.
KITCHEN
This one was on our original project list and will be pushed to the top of the cue; its a big one!
New stone bench tops, new tiled splash back, island panelling added, new cooker, new sink and new handles, along with some new styling bits. The kitchen is a room that has to shine when selling a house, which right now its just not doing. I will share all my plans for this space soon!
LAUNDRY
This space needs a bit of love and its going to get it. Half started it needs finished off to get it up to the standard of the rest of the house. New base cupboards, bench top, painted tiles and adding shelving will bring this space together.
GARDEN
We are so close to finishing this space that its almost not a part of this list, but we made a few changes to our final design when we decided to sell. We will be no longer built an outside kitchen and the crazy pave tiling has been swapped out for standard tiling to appeal to more people. The girls garden will not have any reference to them and instead just be a lawn and plants.
FINISH STARTED PROJECTS
This is an exhaustive list, there are so many fiddly little small jobs to do; paint touch ups, fixing things, straighten doors, paint window frames etc. I could go on but I think you get the picture.
TIDYING, CLEANING AND CLEARING OUT
Not gonna lie but this is one of my favourite parts! I love a good clear out and as we’re moving overseas we’ll need to be selective and ruthless about what we’ll ship. I’ll be going through every inch of this house de-cluttering cupboards and getting rid of all the stuff we don’t need and packing up what I can before we list our house for sale.
