I did it, I found the dream bed. Well I found multiple dream beds, but I found one that would be perfect in the room. The only issue… its outside the budget, but this is fine, because the point of this exercise wasn’t to find the dream bed within budget (although I was hoping this would be the case), it was to;
- free myself from the burden of trying to make all the current items in the room work
- take a step back and spend some time thinking about and planning the design for this room
And this velvet, white, curved, gorgeousness of a bed from Life Interiors has done so much to address these two points and given me the direction I desperately needed.
When searching for the bed I looked at so many options but the two things they all had in common were curves and velvet. Just take a look at my Pinterest board to see what I mean.
I looked at a range of colours, but there was just something about this white one that won out, which led me to question why I hadn’t introduced more white into the room. I think I’ve been too focused on making this room dark that I wasn’t open to the idea of white, but with white furniture in the room its already there, so using this elsewhere not only allows that furniture to make sense but it softens the pink and teal.
So my next step was to try and source a more budget friendly bed alternative, and I found this bedhead from Temple & Webster that would definitely give me the curves I’m craving for in this space, but it just didn’t feel like this was enough.
I had this idea in my head of large upholstered panels that I kept coming back to. I want to create a bit of an impact with this room and just changing out the bed wasn’t going to do that. So I sketched out my vision and it got me pretty excited. Drawing is clearly not my speciality, but hopefully you get the idea.
I’ve been toying with doing panelling in here for a while now and had looked into a few options. But a lot of panelling is quite traditional and I wanted something more modern, with a little nod to retro.
Plus, with only 2.4m ceilings I need all the help I can get and having long panels will draw the eye up and give the room a sense of grandeur and I hope a little elegance.
So the next stage is figuring out just how to do this and sourcing all the bits I need, but I’m excited!!
