I’m getting pretty excited with the progress we’ve made in Mia’s room and we’re oh so close to the big reveal! The walls and ceiling are freshly painted, its feeling clean and bright and being filled with lots of delicious things! Which is what today’s post is all about. Today I’m sharing with you some of the items that are going into Mia’s room and bringing it to life.

LIGHTING
The look I’m going for in Mia’s room is white with pops of colour, so I knew I wanted a white lamp and I found a few that I loved:

As much as I loved all of these lamps, for various reasons they were ruled out. Some were just too big for her little nightstand or didn’t quite work with the other elements in her room, but really it came down to knowing the winner as soon as I saw it – the shaded wall light.

I just loved the idea of having a wall light, it’s up out of her way, and it’s another wall accessory! It’s also called the Mia light, so how could I not choose this one, and being a plug in it’s super easy to install.

RUGS
This was actually pretty straight forward to find as I knew exactly what I wanted or more specifically what I didn’t want. I knew I didn’t want a ‘kids rug’, they’re just not aesthetically pleasing to me, and if I’m honest I find them a bit naff. I wanted a tasteful colourful rug, not made of wool that would tie the whole scheme together, and strangely there isn’t that much choice out there (that I could find anyway). So my decision was between these three:

I absolutely loved the first rug from Collective Sol, it’s such a fun rug and would be perfect in a kids room, but the colours just weren’t quite right. If only the peach tufts were more pink it would’ve been the one, but it may well just pop up in another little girl’s room I know, haha.

The second one was just a little too busy with everything else that will be going on in the room, and it didn’t quite fit with the theme, but I could so see this working in a nursery.

So that left number 3, which was actually the first one I found. It had all the colours including the grey of the carpet, it’s a little bit fun and childlike but not in your face screaming ‘I’m a kids rug!’. I was pretty excited for it to arrive and see it in the room, it’s really helping bring everything together.

DECOR BITS
I plan on sharing all of the sources for Mia’s room in a later post, but for now here is a sneak peek of just some of the items being added to her space.
