We’ve taken a break from doing any work to the house over the Christmas break and it’s been wonderful to just enjoy it and switch off from the never ending to do list.

That being said I couldn’t stop myself from planning out what we’re going to tackle this year. Darren and I started it off by writing down everything we’d love to achieve, edited it, reassessed what was viable and now we’re sharing that list with you, it’s going to be a fun and busy year!

THE HALL

First up is our Hall. This may not actually be the first room we tackle in 2021 (although I’d kind of like it to be) but it’s definitely high on the list.

The first picture is how it looked not long after we moved in so as you can see we’ve already done some work to this space by adding a new front door, painting the walls white and the internal doors black, but I’m excited for the next phase and I’ll be sharing details of our plans for this space soon!

INDIA’S ROOM

Again this room has seen a little bit of action since we moved in but since we moved India into it last year we haven’t done anything to it to make it hers, so I’m just dying to turn it into a little girls room that is all her own.

COURTYARD

This was one of the first spaces we tackled when we moved in, its actually one of the things that sold the house to us, but for a while now its been neglected. In fact the picture above makes it look better than it currently does because the bamboo has now moved to the back garden with all the other plants that where out here, so we figured it’s time to put some love and thought back into this space.

BACK GARDEN

Yes, we’re still at it out here, but 2021 will see us finish this project with the addition of an outdoor BBQ unit, tiling (very excited for this bit) and finishing off the planting in the girls garden. We’re so close, but somehow still have a big to do list out here!

KITCHEN

As much as I’d love to say we’re getting a new kitchen this will only be a face lift for now, how much of a facelift is yet to be determined but it’ll definitely involve a new cooker and door handles. We’re also hoping to get a new work top and tiles but we’ll have to wait and see what is in the budget when we get to this project.

MIA’S WARDROBE

A couple of years ago we transformed the girls wardrobes by removing the sliding doors and added swing doors that extended to the ceiling. We also ripped out the rail and shelf and added in an Ikea Pax wardrobe system inside instead.

It’s one of the best things we’ve done, but I want to give Mia’s wardrobe a bit of an internal upgrade with some colour or wallpaper, add some hooks and bits. It’ll be a fun one!

MASTER BEDROOM

I adore this room, its pink walls and velvet panels are divine but its still not finished. I really need to devote some time to this space to tick it off my to do list and finally do a reveal post!

Spoiler…I may have tweaked a few things in here over the Christmas break.

BONUS PROJECTS

THE UTILITY AREA
This is a bit of a practical one, but an important one none the less. We need to add a large shed out here and properly organise this space so we can better utilise the storage space in our house.

FRONT GARDEN
This would be a very nice to have this year and really wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to do as the main and biggest element, (the path and new post-box) was completed when we concreted the back garden.

We want to add a fence down to our boundary and a large garden bed between it and our post box. The gutters, eaves, door etc. need to be painted black, and we may look at painting the bricks. So actually there is quite a bit to do out here now I list it out, so we’ll see.

EN SUITE
I would love to repaint this room, the stark white beside our dark bedroom is too jarring so I’d like to give the en-suite a bit of a colour update, but we’ll see how we go with the rest of our 2021 house to do list first.

So that’s it! What should we tackle first? What project(s) are you excited for? Any surprises on our list? Would love to hear your thoughts.
