Our living room has definitely seen the most changes out of all the rooms in our house, and for good reason – it’s awkward layout. With very little actual wall space and being part hall/walk way this space has been a hard one to crack. But I feel that with my latest round of updates and musical furniture its finally there!
So I thought it’d be fun to take a look back at this space and how it has evolved. So lets start at the beginning on the day we moved in, July 2018; with its peach curtains, cream walls, weird alarm thing in the corner, a fugly old air-con unit and original light fittings.
We painted the walls white, updated the lighting and added our furniture to create that moved in but not quite settled vibe. I’m ashamed to say we lived with it like this for over a year!
In September 2019 we finally started to add some personality.
And then I swapped out the orange seat for this awesome swivel chair I scored on Gumtree, which I plan to reupholster.
Up until very recently it looked like this; with the TV now against the wall and the sofa turned to face it, new sheer curtains and a more restrained colour palette. It was almost there but not quite.
The final round of updates saw us bring back the other Ikea Besta unit, changed up the wall art a little and added a black coffee table along with some other styling bits, and this is what it looks like today.
It finally feels like us and our living room is complete, right in time to move out, haha.
