UPDATED 5th April 2021 – For the original reveal we left the bath tub peach, adding other warm tones in the bathroom to soften it, but on completion of this bathroom leaving the bath as it was took away from the other work we did. So we made the call and decided to get it professionally sprayed white, and I’m so glad we did because its lifted it to another level.
The original reveal images have been updated in this post to reflect the additional changes we made and to how it actually looks now.
The plan with this update was to make the most of what we’ve got after deciding that a full blown renovation wasn’t in this bathrooms future for us. I’d have loved to completely changed the floor plan and have combined this space with the separate toilet next to it to create a bigger bathroom, but to do that would’ve been upwards of $20,000 and as this isn’t our forever home we felt it wasn’t worth investing that kind of money into. So instead we went for a facelift, and I’ve got to be honest with you, it feels as good as a new bathroom.
Only a few weeks ago this bathroom looked like this, ok but not great.
We planned lots of little changes to makeover this space which I talk about in detail here, but to recap we painted the walls, ceiling and tiles, updated the vanity, tap and shower, lightened the floor by staining the grout and of course restyled.
Below is the mood board I created to give you a sense of the design.
And taking you right back this is what it looked like when we moved in;
And here it is now…
And from a different angle, here is another before and after;
It feels fresh, it feels clean and its a space I actually like being in now. It really is a testament to how small changes can have a big impact, and not just on how it looks but how it feels – and this space feels so good now!
And I’ll say it again, it feels like a new bathroom! I am really proud of the finished result; we worked with what we had and created a beautiful new space for our family.
